BLOCK PARTY INSTRUCTIONS

  1. A Block Party Permit can be obtained from the Lansing Police Department located at
    2710 -170th Street
    Lansing , IL
    .
  1. Bring a petition to the Support Services Division (Records Window). The petition is to 
    be signed by a minimum of 51% of the neighborhood.
  1. A permit will only be issued to a neighborhood that is not on a main thoroughfare. 
    It is reasonable to assume that the 176th block of Wentworth Avenue would not be 
    issued a permit to block the street.
  1. Barricades are to be picked up at the Village of Lansing Department of Public Works 
    office on the Friday prior to the block party. Public Works closes at 3:00pm. The barricades 
    should be picked up prior to 2:00pm.
  1. The barricades are to be returned on the Monday immediately after the block party, before 
    12:00pm (Noon)
  1. The Block party permit is not intended to be a permit to disturb the peace. If a disc-jockey 
    or live band is too loud or any other type of action is taken by the participants of the block 
    party that causes another to become alarmed or disturbed, the Lansing Police may request 
    that the alarming or disturbing action be stopped. Multiple police response may be cause 
    for a permit to be revoked by the duty Shift Commander or other officer and the block 
    party stopped.
